Knorr / Girard

Scoren House (1969) in Woodside, CA by Don Knorr
Robert Scoren, a dentist in Palo Alto, had his friend Don Knorr design a house for him.  Another friend, Alexander Girard, designed the doors and a number of other features of the house. I was able to get inside for a tour.

Scoren, like Girard, was a folk art collector.

The bed and art are gone, but the Girard wall is still there.

Herman Miller and Knoll once dined together in the Scoren house.

Nelson, Girard and Eames were in the living room.

Robert Scoren died in 2012 and the house has been for rent on and off for a few years. It was listed on Craigslist for something like $5,000 a month. It's not in the best of shape these days.

There were two Benny Bufano sculptures on the property

They're both gone now.

Just the tractor tracks remain.

The house recently sold for $7.4 million. The listing states...
"First time on the market, this award winning Don Knorr designed home sits on just over 3 acres in this coveted location. Experience nature from every room. Surrounded by a variety of trees, the possibilities await on this private lane and setting. This is a perfect opportunity to create your dream home."
It's such a great piece of architecture. Let's hope the new owners realize this and the house isn't another victim of expensive real estate. I was told the Girard doors will remain with the Scoren family and the Girard elements will be preserved no matter what happens to the house.
