Walter Pomeroy / Collects

Hampton is at it again...
Walter Pomeroy has single-handedly assembled the most extensive private collection of painting and drawing by local artists of the 1950s and 1960s. But the full scope of his collection has never been the subject of an exhibition, and for years Pomeroy's accomplishment remained one of the best-kept secrets of San Diego's art community. Portrait of Pomeroy offers an overview of this historically invaluable collection and provides insight into the personality of this unique collector for the very first time.
Opening on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Art Gallery on the 9th Floor of the San Diego Central Library @ Joan ^ Irwin Jacobs Common, Portrait of Pomeroy is organized by guest curator Dave Hampton and is made possible by a collaboration between the San Diego Public Library and the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture. The exhibition runs through May 15, 2016. A public reception is planned for Saturday, March 12 from 12 to 2 p.m.
