Louis Danziger designed this ad, which ran in Arts and Architecture in 1949.  The Marv Rand photo was taken in Case Study House 8 (The Eames House), while it was under construction.

Although we know some great designers worked on the graphics for General Lighting, many of the lamp designs are just credited to the General Lighting Company, with no specific designer named. That's often the case when in-house designers are used.
One of those in-house designers was the company's president, Harry Handler (I bet that name was rough in junior high).
He designed several versions of this gooseneck lamp for his company.
There is a notable exception with this sconce design by George Nelson in 1947.

CSH 10 / Nomland

Case Study House 10 (1947) by Kemper Nomland and his son Kemper Nomland, Jr
This is Pasadena's only Case Study House.
From what I can tell, the exterior looks close to original 1947 design. The house sold in 2012 and the listing photos show some bad decisions made by previous owner(s) over the years.

Why would anyone have closed off that dining room? The wood ceilings were covered up too??  Then again, look at their choice in furniture.  Source: Curbed

There were also some great original features still intact, like this corrugated glass divider. Case Study House 8 and 9 also used this. See more of the 2012 photos on Curbed. See these awful floors on their way out, here.

Beadle / Arizona Architecture

Image
Triad Apartments by Al Beadle (1963).  CSA #1 is the only Arts & Architecture Case Study program project built in Arizona.
It consists of three 840 square feet units. The project was planned to be a total of 80 units. That didn't happen.

They should think about putting that bench back in. The Tackett AP too.

Is it just me or is Beadle the Killingsworth of the desert?
A Beadle deserves better than this knock off Soleri bell. Cosanti is only a half hour away!

Pierre Koenig / The Bailey House

Image
The Bailey House (1958), Case Study House 21 by Pierre Koenig The house was auctioned off by Wright in 2006. It sold for $3.1 million and the buyer was Gallery SEOMI. It now operates as their gallery for contemporary art.

The custom Gerald McCabe/Pierre Koenig music center cabinet from CSH 21 was up for auction last month at Sotheby's. The estimate was $8-12k and it looks like it passed. In 2005 it sold for $16k.  Gallery SEOMI should scoop it up and put it back in the house.

Along with the music center, the sofa and ottoman were all custom-made for the house by Gerald McCabe. While I'm spending Gallery SEOMI's money, they should probably pick up one of the McCabeSilhouette as well. More on that here.
