Noguchi Akari lamp, wall sculpture, and... Smalls  John Caruthers is one of those hard to find California ceramicists I'm always looking for. It's so hard to find so I'm always super happy to get another piece. I'm also happy when I get to bring home San Diego pieces. A nesting table set by Japanese company Yamaguchi All three have this label, which would make it seem like they're Scandinavian. I have the feeling that this label is covering up a Japan stamp. Scandinavian Authentic Furniture missed this one. Nice try. Some catalog photos from Yamaguchi.

The weekend pile from Downtown Modernism is always a great one. It's good to bring back some San Diego clay by the likes of Wayne Chapman and Marg Loring.  There's also a Ken Starbird, Ikebana and a Freeman Lederman bell (more on that soon). Another John Caruthers creature! Carl Auböck, Jack Boyd and other bronze things. Wood Some nice paper turned up as well! The Herman Miller catalog is a hard one to find.

John Caruthers I regretted not buying this in 2011 when it was at LAMA sale . Fortunately I was able to get a shot at it again.  Here's a photo I took at the 2011 LAMA preview  of all the pieces on a Rodney Walker table. It was  assumed that all the ceramics were by Tackett. It wasn't until years later that I figured out that the pleated face was actually by John Caruthers. Another Raymor spot lamp and a vintage scientific model having something to do with color theory (I think). Kay Bojesen and crew California Hard-Edge Painting exhibition catalog from 1964. It was directed by Jules Langser.
