Between the holiday and bike camping over the weekend,  I only shopped a little on Friday. I did get a pair of Lemurian Crafts walnut beakers by Reynolds G. Dennis. MoMA has one There it is on the ESU in MoMA Good Design (1951).  If you need a refresher on the Lemurians, read this article by Dave Hampton:  Ancient Modern: Lost Crafts of the Lemurians Vintage photograph of the Phoenix Financial Center, designed by W.A. Sarmiento Books and MoMA cookie cutters from the estate of a local architect ended up at the junk swap. He was active in San Diego between the 1980s through mid-2000s as far as I can tell. He designed the Seaside Market in Cardiff by the Sea.

It was a wild weekend.  Let's just say that I didn't go out looking for a 9 foot knife. The usual fare.  That Soleri bell is a good one. The log holder is by Alfred Staples, a Canadian designer. I've had a couple of them over the years and just found that out recently. Max Filkenstein and Ed Thompson.  Also, Aalto with a nice patina.

 Anne Goldman, Wayne Chapman, Ikebana and Tom McMillin I bought these together. Alexander Girard, Hans-Agne Jakobsson and Harold Elberg. Experimental airplane model and tik-tek clock. You would think that with being around so much Eames, I would have been able to pick a piece up over the weekend.

  I did some picking on my holiday weekend bike camping trip.  Japanese iron. Margaret Price and Jean Michel Frank book. 

  I finally found the Tibor book in a hardcover. I'm always happy to get another Bolt A Best tray. This pattern is by Abel Sorensen. I'm also always happy to get another Nelson Bubble.  Do It Yourself Modern

  I had a bird thing going on at the Rose Bowl this weekend. This is my second Melvin Best ceramic bird and the wood one is Hagenauer for Wiener Werkstätte Kenji Fujita and metal things Toobs by Penny and Jim Hull of H.U.D.D.L.E.

This is heading to my favorite pie shop, Fat & Flour.

A mix of Downtown Modernism and other pick ups from the weekend. This is the second straight Downtown Modernism that I bought a Lawenda Lamp.  There is also Design Line, James Lovera and Laura Andreson. A 1950s sign for Redondo Beach architect, Corwin Eberting AIA  Post-Modern Time Last but certainly not least, a Magdalena Suarez Frimkess dog.

Noguchi Akari lamp, wall sculpture, and... Smalls  John Caruthers is one of those hard to find California ceramicists I'm always looking for. It's so hard to find so I'm always super happy to get another piece. I'm also happy when I get to bring home San Diego pieces. A nesting table set by Japanese company Yamaguchi All three have this label, which would make it seem like they're Scandinavian. I have the feeling that this label is covering up a Japan stamp. Scandinavian Authentic Furniture missed this one. Nice try. Some catalog photos from Yamaguchi.
